A news conference regarding the Aid-Xizang Work was held in Lhasa, the capital of the Xizang autonomous region, on Thursday morning as part of an event to mark the 30th anniversary of the implementation of paired assistance to the region.

In 1994, a significant decision on paired assistance to Xizang was made at the third Xizang Work Symposium. Over the past 30 years, paired assistance to the region has yielded abundant results; the central government has dispatched 10 batches totaling nearly 12,000 cadres to work in the region.

According to the regional education department, in 2016, the Ministry of Education and four other ministries ramped up the assistance. Seventeen paired provinces and cities have collectively dispatched more than 2,100 educational talents to support Xizang in groups, providing mentoring assistance to 21 primary and secondary schools.

Cai Shoukuan, an official from the regional education department, said that over the years, each assistance team in Xizang has focused on the theme of high-quality education development by leveraging the role of mentoring.

"Thanks to the efforts made by these talented professionals, these supported schools have made significant progress in various areas, leading to continuous improvement in the overall education quality of the region," said Cai.
